Saskatchewan speeds up processing of provincial nominations
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has released its processing times for the second quarter of 2026, showing most application types were finalized within two weeks.
The latest figures, covering April 1 to June 30, 2026, show that wait times generally improved from the first quarter.

The Government of Saskatchewan published this data on its official SINP Processing Statistics webpage on July 14, 2026.
How have SINP processing times changed?
None of the SINP application types saw increased wait times in quarter two of 2026; rather, they either improved or remained the same.
In total, five of the nine application types tracked by the SINP were processed more quickly:
| Application category | Application type | Q2: April 1–June 30, 2026 | Q1: January 1–March 31, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| International Skilled Worker | Employment offer | 2 weeks | 3 weeks |
| International Skilled Worker | Innovation and Tech Talent Pathway | 2 weeks | 2 weeks |
| International Skilled Worker | Agriculture Talent Pathway | 2 weeks | 3 weeks |
| International Skilled Worker | Health Talent Pathway | 2 weeks | 2 weeks |
| Saskatchewan Experience | Existing Work Permit | 2 weeks | 3 weeks |
| Saskatchewan Experience | International Students | 2 weeks | 2 weeks |
| *Second Reviews | Applicants with Job Offers | 1 week | 2 weeks |

| Job Approval Process | ***Employer Position Assessments | 3 weeks | 4 weeks |
*Applicants must request a second review of their provincial nomination application within 30 days of being issued an “ineligible letter” by the SINP, and only if adequate justification is provided. It will be based on the information contained in the original application only.
**The SINP does not publish processing data for second-review requests where the requestor is classified as an applicant without a job offer.
***An EPA is an application submitted by a Saskatchewan employer seeking approval to hire a foreign national through the SINP. The SINP’s service standard for this application type is six weeks.
SINP nomination figures
The federal government granted the SINP a total of 4,761 provincial nominations for 2026.
As of June 30, the SINP has issued a total of 2,628 nominations—about 55% of its 2026 allocation.
The SINP’s nominations have been distributed across three sector categories, each of which has been allotted the following number of nominations in 2026:
- Priority sectors: 2,380.
- Capped sectors: 1,190.
- Other sectors: 1,191.
The SINP releases updated nomination issuances each quarter.
SINP intake windows
Employers of workers in capped sectors are required to apply during a specific window set by the province, with a specific number of spots made available for each sector.
Employers may only apply if the worker they are submitting an Employer Position Assessment for has six months or less left on their work permit.
Once intake opens, spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis until the intake reaches capacity.
For 2026, Saskatchewan established seven intake windows. There are two more intakes scheduled by the SINP in 2026, on September 14 and November 2.
The most recent intake period took place across July 6–7, through which a total of 175 spaces were made available, allotted as such:
- Trucking (July 6): 25 spaces.
- Retail trade and other services (July 6): 50.
- *Accommodations (July 6): 50
- *Food services (July 7): 50.
*In a departure from previous intakes, the SINP split the accommodation and food services sector into two distinct categories.
Each capped sector reached its position limit on the day it opened.
How to obtain permanent residence through the SINP
If wishing to immigrate through the International Skilled Worker category, foreign nationals must first complete an online Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, which is then entered into the candidate pool.
SINP candidates receive a score (out of 110) and are ranked based on the information provided in their EOI profile, which covers factors such as connections to the province, work experience, and language proficiency.
EOI profiles are valid for one year from the day of submission, after which they expire. Once expired, a new EOI must be submitted to continue being considered under the SINP.
Periodically, the SINP will invite the highest-ranking candidates to apply for provincial nomination through an EOI draw—with the province noting that it won’t issue an invitation unless a candidate’s “job or work experience is in-demand.”
Those who receive an invitation to apply must submit a complete provincial nomination application to the SINP within 60 days.
For the Saskatchewan Experience category, the creation of an EOI is not required. Eligible foreign nationals may apply directly to the SINP for consideration without being drawn in an EOI draw.
A successful applicant to the SNIP is issued a nomination and becomes a provincial nominee.
The nominee may then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence, and will be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) upon successful processing of their application.
