Can I update my Express Entry profile after I submit it?
Express Entry candidates can update their profiles after they have submitted them, provided that they remain eligible.
This can be especially beneficial for factors like a candidate’s language score or work experience, as increases in these areas can yield substantial corresponding gains in CRS scores.
It is the responsibility of Express Entry candidates to update their profiles whenever relevant changes in their circumstances occur. Information in a candidate profile must always be truthful. If a candidate receives an ITA based on false or outdated information presented in their candidate profile, they may be found ineligible for the invitation.
Continuing to apply for permanent residence based on false information contained within a candidate profile can constitute misrepresentation, which is a form of fraud that can carry serious consequences in the context of Canadian immigration. Misrepresentation can even occur by mistake, such as if a candidate provided information that they did not realise was false.
Candidates found guilty of misrepresentation can have their permanent resident status and even their Canadian citizenship revoked. In addition (based on the context of the misrepresentation), candidates may need to pay a fine, and even be barred from applying for Canadian immigration for a certain time period.
