Alberta invites 722 workers to apply for provincial nomination

Between September 1–9, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited 722 workers with Alberta job offers to apply for provincial nomination.

Of these, the occupation-specific invitations went to 96 tech workers and 51 healthcare workers.

Those invited can respond by applying for provincial nomination, and if nominated, can apply to the federal government for permanent residence (PR).

While awaiting processing of their PR application, in-Canada applicants may also apply for a bridging open work permit (BOWP).

As of June 9, 2026, Alberta Opportunity Stream nominees can take advantage of the faster process for base PNP applicants to apply for BOWPs. The federal temporary measure allows a base PNP applicant to apply for a BOWP before having received the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their PR application.
