Alberta invites workers in agriculture and construction to apply for provincial nomination
Alberta held two provincial immigration draws between July 16 and July 21, with both rounds focused on workers in priority sectors.
In total, the province issued 82 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through its dedicated Express Entry Stream.

The two priority sectors targeted in this draw were agriculture and construction, with a greater share (64.6%) of invitations going to those employed in the latter.

Both selections set the highest cut-off scores recorded under their respective draw types this year.
Thus far in 2026, the AAIP has held five targeted draws for construction workers and four for agriculture workers.
As of July 30 (the date of the AAIP’s most recent webpage update), Alberta has invited no fewer than 10,828 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through the AAIP this year.
Breakdown of the AAIP’s provincial nomination figures
The federal government granted the province 6,403 nomination spaces through its provincial nominee program (PNP). As of July 30, Alberta reports having issued 3,892 nominations.

Alberta also used supplementary nomination spaces to nominate 50 practice-ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates, outside its regular PNP allocation.
Worker expressions of interest and applications awaiting processing
Alberta also reports the number of WEOIs submitted under each stream, as well as the volume of nomination applications awaiting a final decision.
As of July 30, Alberta’s WEOI pool contained 36,948 profiles—approximately 62.4% of which were submitted under the Alberta Opportunity Stream—and no fewer than 1,584 applications in its inventory awaiting processing.
