On February 4, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held its first Skills Immigration draw of the year, issuing 429 invitations to apply (ITAs).

Invitations were issued to candidates that the province identified as creating a high economic impact in BC based on wage/job offer or registration score.

The BC PNP issued invitations to candidates who met one of the following criteria:

The province also noted that future high economic impact draws may be based on different factors.

In particular, these draws may be based on one or more of the following candidate attributes:

Education – level and field of education, and where it was completed;
Professional designation in BC;
Language skills;
Occupation;
Duration and skill level of work experience;
Wage and/or skill level of job offer;
Intent to live, work, and settle in a specific region; and/or
Strategic priorities (i.e., factors that address specific labour market needs in BC, or support government pilot projects and initiatives).

Skills Immigration registration pool

On its provincial webpage, the BC PNP publishes the breakdown of candidates in its Skills Immigration registration pool by score range, allowing those in the system to get a better idea of where they stand.

The table below shows the breakdown of registrations by score range for those in the Skills Immigration registration pool as of January 6, 2026:

Note that the top three score tiers of the above table have not been updated after the February 4 draw.

British Columbia has been allocated 5,254 nomination spaces in 2026—some of which are expected to be dedicated to waitlisted nomination applicants who have been carried over from the province’s 2025 intake (as well as the province’s entrepreneur immigration streams).

The large disparity between the current size of the skills immigration pool and the available nomination spots suggests that many candidates will likely not receive invitations to apply in 2026.
