Alberta holds three provincial immigration draws, issues over 1,300 invitations

In the span of one week, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted three draws, one of which was its second largest in 2025 thus far.

Among those invited were Express Entry candidates in tech occupations, and in-demand sectors being prioritized by the province.

Summary of draws

Between October 1 and October 7, the AAIP extended a total of 1,324 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through three immigration streams:

Consistent with 2025 draw trends, the Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for the highest number of invitations issued by the province.

Thus far this year, Alberta has held

6 draws through the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction).
7 draws through the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway.
10 draws through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Alberta Opportunity Stream: For temporary foreign workers currently employed full-time in Alberta with a qualifying full-time job offer from an eligible Alberta employer.

Accelerated Tech Pathway under Express Entry: For qualified tech professionals who are either working in Alberta or have a valid job offer in an eligible tech occupation within the province.

Priority Sectors (Construction) under Express Entry: For qualified professionals in the construction industry who, in their Express Entry profile, listed an eligible construction occupation as their primary occupation—and may have an Alberta job offer in this industry.

Under Alberta’s Express Entry-aligned streams, candidates must meet the requirements of the federal Express Entry system.

Recent increase in nomination spaces

On September 9, the Government of Alberta announced that it received an increase of 1,528 nominations under the AAIP.

The total nomination allocation under the AAIP for 2025 is now 6,403—up from 4,875 in January.

According to the province, this expansion will enhance its ability to address regional labour market demands and support key economic priorities.

As a result of this increase in nomination allocations, the province has redistributed its nominations for various streams.

AAIP nominations issued in 2025 by stream

As of October 10, the AAIP has issued a total of 4,228 nominations of its total 6,403 nomination allocation for 2025.

Alberta still has 2,175 available nomination slots for the remainder of the year.
