1. Canada embraces multiculturalism and immigrants.

In the 1970s, under the direction of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Canada officially adopted a policy to promote multiculturalism, and ever since it’s been a key part of the Canadian identity. Canada has one of the highest immigration rates per capita among developed nations. In 2018 alone, Canada will welcome over 310,000 immigrants into the country. 57% of those immigrants will arrive as skilled workers. The rest will be refugees or join family already living in Canada. Altogether, 22.3% of the Canadian population identifies as a visible minority and 21.9% as foreign-born.

Canada’s urban centres such as Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver are particularly diverse, and home to many ethnic neighbourhoods. In Toronto, which is regularly referred to as ‘the most multicultural city in the world,’ more than half of the population identifies as a visible minority.

2. Canada is one of the most inclusive countries in the world.

Beyond being multicultural, Canada is known for its diversity and inclusivity in other ways. The country has strong support for the LGBTQ community. In 2005, Canada became the 4th nation in the world to legalize same-sex marriage and the first outside of Europe. A 2017 poll found that Canadians

overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage with 74% saying: “it’s great that two people of the same sex can get married in Canada.” Canada also officially declared June Pride Month in 2015 and hosts the annual Toronto Pride Parade, which is one of the world’s largest LGBTQ celebrations.

Women also have a strong voice in Canada. When Justin Trudeau was elected Prime Minister in 2015, he committed to a cabinet with 50/50 representation between genders. Basic women’s rights such as voting, access to birth control and abortion are long-established and protected. Though there’s still room for improvement in getting women into leadership roles in Canada, Canadian women have a high workforce participation rate, with 82% of women between the ages of 25 to 54 opting to work outside of their home.

3. Canada is the 10th largest economy in the world

Canada punches above its weight when it comes to the world economy. Despite having the 38th largest population in the world, Canada has the 10th largest economy, with an output of 1.6 trillion or $48,100 per capita. Canada overtook Russia in 2015 to claim a top 10 spot. Though Canada is well-known for its wealth of natural resources, Canada’s economy is actually heavily service-oriented, with 78.9% of Canadians working in a service-related job, according to Statistics Canada. Though the goods-producing sector is relatively small in comparison to the service sector, Canada’s manufacturing and oil and petroleum industries have experienced small but steady annual growth over the last several years.

4. Canada’s education system is world-class.

Canada spends more on education per capita than any other industrialized nation in the world and has been named the most educated country in the world. Canada’s K-12 public education system is regarded as one of the best in the world. Canada is also home to some of the world’s top universities, with McGill University, the University of Toronto, McMaster University, and the University of British Columbia ranking among the world’s top 100 institutions. According to Statistics Canada, 54% of Canadians 25-64 have a post-secondary degree, and an additional 10.8% have completed an apprenticeship or a trades certificate. In some provinces, the cost of tuition is fully or partially covered for low-income students.

5. Canada’s tech industry is growing rapidly.

The tech sector is Canada’s fastest growing industry, which spells good things for Canada’s future, as the need for tech professionals continues to boom. Government support and investment in Canada’s tech industry is strong, as well, with grants and other tools available to help Canadian startups. Canada is rapidly becoming a destination of choice for employers seeking skilled tech talent. Toronto leads the pack, with big names like Google’s Sidewalk labs, Shopify, Salesforce and Facebook setting up shop in the city. While Toronto gets a lot of attention for its plentiful tech talent, it’s not alone. Other Canadian cities are pulling in tech talent, too. Montreal quietly established itself as an epicentre for innovation in AI and game development. Vancouver and Calgary, meanwhile, are known for innovation in clean tech, among other things.

6. Canadians enjoy access to universal healthcare.

Canada’s universal healthcare system was adopted in the 1960s. Under the program, every province or territory in Canada has a healthcare plan which provides all residents with reasonable access to medical services, without paying out of pocket for healthcare services such as hospital visits or access to doctors. In 2017, Canada spent $6,323 per person on healthcare, according to the OECD. Despite spending about half of what the US does per capita, Canada’s quality of care has been rated significantly higher. Thanks to the reliable healthcare programs available to everyone in the country, Canada has one of the world’s highest life expectancy rates at just below 82 years. That places Canada’s life expectancy at 18th in the world.

7. Canada has the best benefits, holidays and paid leave in north America.

Canada is a progressive country with many policies in place to protect workers. It’s the only country in North America with mandated vacation leave, with 2 guaranteed weeks of paid vacation for all employees, in addition to 6 to 10 statutory holidays, depending on the province. Canadians are also guaranteed access to a variety of monetary protections including Employment Insurance (EI), old age security, the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP), and a federal childcare benefit.

The minimum wage in Canada is also one of the highest in the world, though it ranges from $11 to $14 depending on your province of residence. Canada’s maternity and parental leave policies are also progressive. Canadian workers are permitted to take up to 18 months of parental leave, with the mother and father able to share the leave however they choose.

8. Canada is extremely safe.

Canada regularly ranks among the top 10 safest nations in the world on various polls and indexes. According to the Global Peace Index of 2018, Canada was ranked the 6th most peaceful nation in the world. The index weighs a variety of factors including homicide rates, militarization, political stability, diplomatic relations, ongoing conflicts, incarceration rates, and terrorism impact, among others. Canada is well known for strong gun control and relatively peaceful approach to foreign diplomacy. In general, Canada’s crime rates are low and have declined significantly since their peak in the 1980s.

9. Canada’s banks are extremely stable.

For years Canada’s banks have been ranked the world’s most stable according to the World Economic Forum. In Canada, you can rest easy knowing that if you deposit your money into a major bank it’s going to be safe and sound. Canada hasn’t had a bank failure since 1983. Also, unlike the US, which continues to use magstripe cards, Canada has moved towards PIN and chip technology, which is a lot more secure. Canadians are also very forward-thinking when it comes to using bank tech, with 68% of Canadians doing their day-to-day banking online or through mobile apps.

10. Canada’s a beautiful place to live.

There’s no denying that Canada has some epic scenery to enjoy. From BC’s mountains, to PEI’s coastal views, to Montreal’s historic buildings (the city just celebrated its 375th birthday and is looking pretty good for its age!) there’s no shortage of places to visit and things to see in Canada. The country boasts hundreds of nationally protected parks, reserves, historical sites and hiking trails.

From world-renowned parks like Banff and Jasper in Alberta, to Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, to Georgian Bay in Ontario, there’s no shortage of natural wonders to enjoy from coast to coast. Speaking of coasts, Canada also has more coastline than any other country in the world, with over 200,000 kilometres of coastline, almost 4 times as much the next closest (Indonesia.) So while Canada may not exactly be known for its warm weather beaches, there’s plenty of beautiful coastal scenery to enjoy when the weather does heat up. If you’re more of a city person, Canadian cities like Calgary and Toronto are regularly listed among the world’s cleanest cities.

11. Canada has a stable, democratic political system.

Though Canadian governments shift between various liberal and conservative parties depending on the political climate, in general, all of Canada’s political parties have relatively centrist stances on hot-button issues such as women’s and LGBT rights, environmental concerns and immigration, which are sometimes highly divisive in other democratic nations. Canadians also have faith in and respect for the political system and government bodies. Though scandals break occasionally, they tend to be fairly mild and there’s little in the way of widespread corruption, fraud or government distrust. Canada’s political campaigns are also short and inexpensive for taxpayers compared to other democratic nations. Even at a national level, political campaigns rarely last more than a few months.

These are just a few of the things that make Canada a great place for immigrants to settle and make a build a life.

If you are wondering how to apply for a temporary residence visa (TRV) or even how to become a Canadian permanent residence, this blog gives you an overview of how to do so.

How to Get a Temporary Resident Visa

Temporary residence visa (TRV) is issued for people coming to visit Canada, including people coming to do business, and must be obtained before arrival into Canada. Any family members coming along are also required to fill out and submit their own application for a TRV.

Requirements and Fees

Some of the conditions in order to be issued your TRV are:

Proof that you will leave at the end of your stay

Proof of sufficient finances

Not intend to work or study unless authorized

No criminal record

Not be a risk to Canadian security

Medical exam (if required)

Biometrics (if required)

The government fee to apply for the TRV is $100 CDN plus biometrics if needed which cost $85 CDN.

Permanent Residency in Canada

The process can be quick for some and longer for others and can be applied for within or outside of Canada. Usually, permanent residents have resided as temporary residents first (sometimes as workers) before applying for permanent residency.

There are many benefits to permanent residency in Canada. As a Canadian permanent resident, you:

will have access to the country’s health care system and coverage;

can legally live, work, and study anywhere in Canada;

can later apply for citizenship after a certain period of time;

will be protected under Canadian law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The only thing a permanent resident cannot do is vote. For this right, they have to become a citizen.

To find out if you are eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency, contact us.

How to Obtain Permanent Residency in Canada

There are more than 80 Canadian immigration programs that can lead to permanent residency. They can be divided into three main classes:

Economic – operates using the Express Entry.

Family – sponsorship through a family member who is already a Canadian permanent resident or citizen.

Business – investment-based immigration programs offering permanent residency. Also, for the self-employed, experienced entrepreneurs, and start-up businesses.

You must decide which category best fits you before applying.

Economic-Based Permanent Residency

If you fall under this category, you are a skilled worker who will submit their self-assessed profile online (valid for one year). You will then be entered into a pool where you will get a score using a Comprehensive Ranking System (Canada’s point system) based on different categories of assessment (see above). Those with the highest scores will be invited to apply for permanent residency.

If you receive an official invite, you will have a limited amount of time to complete your application (which includes health and security checks).

Family Visa and the Canadian Spouse Visa Process

For any permanent resident or citizen of Canada wishing to bring their non-Canadian partner to Canada, bear in mind that spouses or common-law partners fall under the family visa sponsorship category. It is essential to keep in mind that there is no Canadian fiancé visa process or sponsorship – instead aim to qualify as a marital or common-law partner.
Canadian permanent residents or citizens can sponsor the following family members:

Spouse

Common law partner

Dependent child

Orphaned brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, granddaughters, or grandsons who are under the age of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship

Accompanying relatives of the above (e.g., spouse, partner, or dependent children)

Some of the requirements to be a sponsor are:

Minimum 18 years of age

Must not receive social assistance other than disability-specific

Can cover basic needs for person sponsored

Biometrics may be required

Some of the documents required from the sponsor are:

Photocopy of permanent residence card or Canadian citizenship card or certificate (both sides)

Letter from an employer in Canada (including salary details, regular working hours, etc.)

ID, travel documents, and passport

Civil status documents

Some of the requirements of the person being sponsored are:

Certified translations of all documents in English or French

Proof of relationship to the sponsor

Police certificate

Medical exam

Biometrics may be required

Business Class

The final class operates under federal or provincial immigration programs. Most provincial immigration programs require a two-step process, starting with a work permit first (see above) and you will usually need a medical exam, police certificates, and certified translation of all documents when applying.

The Provincial Nominee Entrepreneur Programs

In this category, applicants are nominated by a province if they meet the program requirements (varies based on province). Typically though, they all require a minimum net worth of 350,000 CDN (263,305 USD) with enough managerial experience. Some of the programs also require a minimum deposit, which is then returned to the applicant once the business has been established. Health and
criminal checks are a standard part of this process too. Participating provinces include:

British Columbia

Manitoba

New Brunswick

Nova Scotia

Yukon

Saskatchewan

Ontario

Prince Edward Island

North West Territories

Canadian Permanent Residence Visa Requirements
Once you have obtained your permanent residence visa, there are specific requirements you must maintain to keep your status in Canada. The residency requirement states that for every five years you must live two of those years in Canada. Otherwise, you risk losing your permanent residency status in Canada. If you do lose your permanent residency status, you can appeal within 60 days.

General: This work visas are for businessmen who wish to purchase a business or establish a new business in Canada and want to work in that business in a managerial position, often with the aim of immigrating permanently. If the work visa is issued to the foreign businessman, he/she will be required to become an employee of his/her Canadian company, which in turns mean that the company must pay the foreign worker a wage that meets the medium wage requirements.

This a two-step application. First, the foreign businessman must apply to the Employment and Skill Development Canada (ESDC) office to obtain a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Second, once the businessmen receives a positive LMIA, he or she can obtain a work visa usually up to 2 years. Once a work visa is obtained, the businessman will, in most cases, be in a position to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry program. This type of work visa generates a substantially better chance for businessmen to permanently immigrate to Canada under the Express Entry.

OWNER/OPERATOR LMIA OVERVIEW

However, some LMIA applications are exempt from advertising requirements, one such example being the Owner/Operator LMIA.

This specific category has been created for foreign businessmen who wish to either establish or purchase a business in Canada and manage it from Canada. The role of the simplified procedure is to attract business people to the country and make the transition process smooth, easy and quick.

If business owner had to go through the same laborious process of obtaining a work permit, they most likely would be dissuaded from investing so much effort into that and will look into other country for investment opportunities. This stream has been specifically designed to avoid that. So, if you are a business person who runs a business or wants to purchase a business in Canada, look into the below criteria to see if you qualify.

You must:

Be a sole or majority shareholder, i.e. demonstrate that you have controlling interest in the business;

Demonstrate that your entry into Canada will result in the creation or retention of jobs for Canadian permanent residents / citizens;

Be independent from any senior management. You must occupy the highest position of power in the company and not be answerable to any superiors.

The key requirement for Owner/Operator LMIA is for an applicant to own a controlling interest of 50% or more in the company.

OWNER/OPERATOR LMIA REQUIREMENTS

Other requirements include:

 A business plan. You must show in detail how you will fund the business and create/maintain employment. The business plan must be elaborate and convincing. You must convince the officer of Employment and Social Development Canada that you know what you are doing;

You must be actively involved in the business. You should show that you are not making a passive investment. Instead, you intend to run and develop your business further. You are the architect and the muse behind your project.

In your business plan, show an intention to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents (ideally, in the first year of the business).

With all its charm of luxurious lifestyle and promising employment opportunities Canada attracts people from all across the globe. Today, Canada welcomed 303,257 immigrants in 2017/2018, and Indians top this immigration chart.

Every year thousands of Indians move to Canada, either to become the country’s permanent residents, or for work, study or visits and holidays. However, before moving to Canada, Indian immigrants need to find an immigration service provider who would get their visa sanctioned for their journey to Canada. They need to take extra care while selecting visa consultants as there are many fake and unregistered agents who make fake promises to lure people into getting their services. If you are also planning to move to Canada, the tips listed below would help you find the best immigration services for Canada. Have a read.

Go For Consultancy Firms Instead Of Agents

While choosing immigration services, the first question that arises is whether to go for a consultancy firm, an agent, or an independent lawyer. It is always advisable to go for a trusted consultancy firm as they have rich experience in the field and have different agents and lawyers working with them. In case, the immigration case is complicated that requires judicial intervention, they will have the experience and right contacts for any type of assistance.

Research About The Company Online

The first thing to do before selecting immigration services for Canada is to perform an extensive research about each one online. Before choosing any particular immigration consultancy, go online and visit the company’s website to know more details. Read testimonials from their clients to know their work efficiency. There are many other review sites where you can read honest reviews by the clients. Visit those sites and read the reviews to get better feedback about the company.

Check The Registration Documents

The next thing to do is to check the registration documents of the company. It is important that the company is registered with the immigration regulatory body of Canada. This would safeguard you from getting into the traps of the fraudulent Canada immigration consultancies. Many people in India have been a victim of fraudulent cases and therefore trust only the reputed Visa consultant for your immigration to Canada.

See Their Experience In The Canada Market

One of the most important things to do while selecting a Canadian immigration consultancy is to check its experience in the Canada market. Every country has its own set of rules for immigration. There have been slight changes in the immigration laws of Canada in the past few years and it is important that the consultancies have an in-depth knowledge of the changing immigration rules. Moreover, it is always advisable to go for an immigration consultancy that specializes in providing visa services in Canada. You should also look for those visa consultants who have assisted a large clientele in their immigration process.

Avoid Those With Fake Guarantee

One of the crucial tips to follow while searching an immigration service provider for settling in Canada is to not get drawn away by fake promises. There are a number of immigration service providers who offer job guarantees or visa guarantees in Canada. You should always stay away from them. More often than not, the immigration service provider or visa consultants that offer job guarantee or other similar promises turn out to be fake. It is advisable to stay away from such agents who try to lure you with fake promises.

Here’s some useful advice to help Express Entry candidates boost their CRS score.

Canada’s Express Entry immigration system is competitive. Only the candidates with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores receive invitations to apply for permanent resident status.

If you’ve submitted your Express Entry profile and your CRS score is lower than you’d like, you have options for improving your score. On this page, we will give you the best options for improving your CRS score. Whether you need just a couple of points to become competitive, or whether you need a big boost to land your invitation, we’ll help you figure out your next steps.

Understanding the Comprehensive Ranking System: How is the CRS score calculated?

You’ve determined your eligibility for one of the Express Entry-aligned programs, created an Express Entry profile, and been assigned a CRS score… now you just sit back and wait to be invited to apply, right? Well, unless you have been assigned a high CRS score, this is indisputably the wrong approach!

By adopting a passive attitude towards your Express Entry profile, you may not be awarded all of the points you may be entitled to, and you may be missing opportunities to improve your rank among the candidates under the Comprehensive Ranking System. You have created a profile, but the CRS is a dynamic system and your score is not “locked in” — you can take steps to improve it.

Some improvements may only nudge your CRS score up a few points, but these points could make all the difference. Other improvements can bring as many as 600 additional CRS points, essentially guaranteeing that you would be invited to apply in a subsequent draw from the pool.

Checklist: Have you claimed all the points you’re eligible for?

There are a few areas of the CRS score where you may not have claimed all of the points you can get. Take a look at this list and make sure that you’ve claimed all the factors that apply to your situation.

Sibling in Canada

Do you, or your spouse/common-law partner, have a brother or sister living in Canada as a citizen or permanent resident? This relationship can be through blood, adoption, marriage, or common-law partnership. If so, just prove the relationship and watch your CRS score increase by 15 points.

Education

This tip is aimed particularly at Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) candidates. Unlike Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) candidates, CEC and FSTC candidates do not have to provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) or Canadian credential upon entry to the pool. What might that mean? It might mean that you are leaving up to 200 CRS points on the table, unclaimed. Education is worth 150 points in its own right, and up to 50 more in combination with Canadian work experience and/or language ability.

As well, on your Express Entry profile you should mention all eligible education you’ve completed. You did a one-year diploma eight years ago that wasn’t related to your current job? It doesn’t matter, you should still claim this on your Express Entry profile and obtain an ECA for the credential (unless it was completed in Canada). Express Entry awards points for education regardless of the area of study and whether or not it relates to your current work.

Second Language

You can claim points for both English and French under the CRS. If you are capable in both languages, make sure that you take an approved language test in both English and French to ensure that you’re getting as many points as possible. Plus, there are bonus points available to bilingual candidates and certain PNP streams that are only open to French-speakers.

If you are competent in both English and French, don’t miss out on the opportunity this affords you.

If you’ve claimed all the points that you’re eligible for and your score is still below the competitive range, you should consider making an effort to increase your score using the methods described below.

Faster Options: Short-term ways to increase your CRS score
Here is our top recommendation for a fast way to improve your CRS score. This can be completed in a matter of weeks, if you put in the time and effort required to succeed.

Retake your language test

If you haven’t maximized your approved language test scores, then this option could be the key to you getting a competitive CRS score.
Did you know that language ability is worth up to 260 CRS points in total for a single candidate, or up to 270 points for a couple? Not only is language ability the most valued human capital factor under the Comprehensive Ranking System, but it is also a factor where incremental gains can make a huge difference.

Extra points are accumulated for each improvement in test results across the four language abilities (speaking, listening, reading, writing), but the magic threshold is when a candidate achieves a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 9 in each ability. Why? Because in addition to the points gained for improvements to that level, getting a CLB 9 in each ability also triggers a jump in points under the skills transferability factors (the exact jump depends on your levels of education and work experience). One small step in your language ability, one giant leap for your CRS score.
Skill transferability factors can result in a maximum of 100 points, so be sure you get as many of these points as you can.

To reach CLB 9 on the IELTS General Training exam, you have to achieve the following minimum scores:
• Listening: 8.0
• Speaking 7.0
• Reading: 7.0
• Writing: 7.0
To reach CLB 9 on the CELPIP general exam, you must achieve a minimum score of 9 in each of the four abilities.
Slower Options: Long-term ways to increase your CRS score

If you have your heart set on immigrating to Canada through Express Entry, there are some longer term options for improving your CRS score. Some of these options may only take a few weeks or a few months, while others might require a year or more of your time.

Gain more work experience

If you are working outside Canada but have less than three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience, keep working! While this work won’t bring points under the human capital factors, it is nonetheless rewarded in the skills transferability combinations.

The goal of remaining in employment is even more important for candidates currently working in Canada on a work permit, because more points are available for Canadian work experience. Just make sure that if you are working in Canada, you maintain legal work status the entire time.

As long as you indicate that your employment is ongoing on your Express Entry profile, your CRS score will automatically update when you reach a new threshold of work experience.

Provincial Nominee Programs

If you want a 600-point boost to your CRS score, plus the knowledge that you are being welcomed with open arms into your chosen destination province, it’s time to learn about the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

More and more, IRCC is gradually giving additional allocations to the provinces for the PNPs. In turn, the provinces are looking to the Express Entry pool in order to welcome a portion of the newcomers who will arrive under these programs.

Over recent months and years, provinces have been using their Express Entry-aligned (‘enhanced’) PNP streams in innovative, dynamic ways. Ontario has targeted specific occupation groups, notably in the Information Technology (IT) sector; Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan have both reopened PNP streams for candidates across a range of occupations (no job offer required!); British Columbia continues to invite candidates to apply under its unique system; Alberta and Manitoba have entirely new Express Entry-aligned streams; and other provinces have also been on board, issuing nomination certificates to candidates in the Express Entry pool.

Six hundred points. That is the prize on offer to candidates who adopt a proactive approach to the Express Entry system, follow developments, and prepare accordingly.

Complete another educational program

This is definitely a long-term strategy for improving your CRS score. Regardless, gaining more education can result in a much higher CRS score. Not only do you receive CRS points for your level of education, education is an important component of the skill transferability factors section of the CRS.

You can gain a maximum of 100 points through the skill transferability factors section. In terms of education, to maximize your skill transferability points, you must complete the following level of education:

• Two or more post-secondary credentials, and at least one must have been for a program of three-years or longer.
If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you can complete another one-year program, and this will likely make you eligible for higher points under skill transferability factors. Although it does require completing an educational program, this might be a worthwhile investment if you have your heart set on immigrating to Canada.

Get a Canadian job offer

Note: In order to claim points for a job offer through Express Entry, the job offer must meet a strict set of conditions.

While the value of a qualifying job offer with respect to your CRS score is not as great as it once was — in most cases, down to 50 CRS points from a previous value of 600 points — obtaining a job offer remains an important factor.

Obtaining such an offer, particularly if you are not currently in Canada, may seem difficult, but there are steps you can take that may increase your chances of success.
Can my spouse or partner improve my CRS score?

Spouse/Partner factors

If you plan on coming to Canada with your spouse/common-law partner, you should both know that the spouse/partner’s language ability is worth up to 20 points, while education level and Canadian work experience are worth up to 10 points each. That’s a total of 40 points available based on your spouse/partner’s factors.

Notably, if you apply as a single applicant, these 40 points are redistributed into the factors of your profile. Single applicants don’t miss out on these 40 points, you simply claim them within your own abilities.

Think outside the box

Imagine the following scenario. A couple, man and wife, want to immigrate to Canada. Neither partner has ever studied in or worked in Canada. He has years of experience as a financial advisor, working with big international clients and earning plenty of money along the way. He went to an internationally-renowned, prestigious university, graduating near the top of the class. On the other hand, she is an elementary/primary school teacher who got a Bachelor’s degree at a smaller university before working in a local school for a few years. They both have the same English ability.
Who should be the principal applicant? Answer: whoever has the higher CRS score. And who has the higher score? She does, because she is 29 and he is 35. She gets full points for age, whereas he does not. Moreover, it should be noted that IRCC doesn’t care where you came in your class, only that you completed your course(s), and that financial advisor and elementary teacher are both considered skilled jobs, neither of which is necessarily more valued than the other when it comes to immigration to Canada.

Indeed, there is nothing to stop both partners from each creating an Express Entry profile, naming the other partner as the accompanying spouse on each other’s profiles. Although one partner’s CRS score is likely going to be lower than the other partner’s, the person with the lower score may have work experience in an occupation in demand by a province under a PNP, so that person could shoot up the rankings and carry the other person along with them to Canada.

That said, you may only submit one final application for permanent residence per couple. In the event both members of a couple receive ITAs at the same time, only one permanent residence application may be submitted.

The process of obtaining a Canadian visa seems quite simple but in fact it can be quite a challenge. While many students think receiving a letter of acceptance is the hardest part of the process, truth is, it can be even harder to land a student visa.

Unfortunately it isn’t uncommon for students to receive a Canadian visa rejection. With Canada being such a desirable study destination, many students aspire to pursue education in the country. Though it’s comforting to know Canada is such as likeable place, it makes it significantly harder to get a visa acceptance because of the large number of people wanting to both study and move there.

To ensure your Canadian visa application isn’t rejected and you experience a smooth process, it’s best to understand the common reasons behind visa rejections in Canada.

1. A genuine letter of acceptance

Before you apply for a visa, you must obtain a letter of acceptance (LOA) from your Canadian host school. The school must be listed under the designated learning institutions list. If the visa officer doubts your letter of acceptance is genuine, or recognizes your failure to meet the program requirements, you may be refused.

2. Financial reasons

As part of the Canadian visa application process, applicants are required to submit a Bank Certificate or Bank Statement. These documents provide evidence the individual can support himself or herself while studying abroad. To be denied a visa due to financial reasons may include factors such as a student’s ability to pay for the trip, to pay tuition fees and to support himself or herself while in Canada.

3. Whether you will leave the country at the end of your studies

A visa officer must trust the student will go back to his or her country of residence at the end of their authorized stay. If a visa officer questions this and denies approval of a visa, reasons may include your travel history (if you have one), family ties in Canada and in your country of residence, or your purpose of visit. Further, it could have something to do with your immigration status in your country of residence, financial status or your previous history in Canada. It’s important to remember a student visa is a temporary visa which means it has an expiration date.

4. Issues with travel or identity documents

It’s important to submit all of the appropriate (and correct) documentation. This includes a valid passport, recent photos and properly filled out forms. Through these documents, the visa officer must be able to identify whether or not you are admissible to Canada. It’s best to ensure you have all sections of the documents filled out clearly so it’s easy to read.

5. Academic performance

Good grades are a key factor in visa approval. This also includes your language ability shown in your IELTS or TOEFL scores. With low grades and low scores, a visa officer may question your ability to cope with English courses. Visa officers also seek consistency in courses and performance, and recognize major deviations through a student’s academia.

It’s important to recognize the process isn’t as simple and straightforward as it may seem. There are many things to consider and be careful with. However, if you keep these points in mind, your application process should be smooth.

Facts you need to know…

The new caregiver program for Canada provides both benefits and disadvantages to caregivers and Canadian employers. With this post, we summarize the major changes that were announced on June 18, 2019.

On June 18, 2019, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced a new program for caregivers who want to work and live in Canada. The program is for foreign nationals who have experience in either caring for children, or caring for adults who need support in their home (disabled and elderly) and who have a job offer from a Canadian employer.

With the new program, caregivers who have a job offer in Canada and who meet the eligibility criteria will apply for Permanent Residence and a work permit from overseas. If their application is approved, they are issued a 3 year work permit and allowed to travel to Canada. Once the caregiver has completed two years of work experience inside Canada, they can then apply to have their Permanent Residence status finalized.

There are a number of significant differences in how this new process will work as compared to the former programs for Caregivers in Canada.

Requirements for Canadian employers:

The employer does not need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). They do need to show they have a legitimate need to hire a caregiver and enough income to pay for a caregiver’s salary.

Requirements for Overseas Caregivers:

The caregiver requires English test results that show a minimum score of CLB 5, an Educational Credential Assessment that shows the equivalent of a 1 year Canadian post- secondary credential and the caregiver must demonstrate the ability to do the job that is offered to them in Canada

The caregiver applies from overseas for both Permanent Residence and a work permit at the same time. The processing time is projected to take about 1 year. If approved, the caregiver will be issued a work permit that authorizes work as a caregiver in Canada, with no specific employer mentioned. The caregiver’s spouse and children can also apply for an open work permit and study permits in order to accompany the caregiver to Canada.

The caregiver can only work in the occupation in which they have applied, either child care or adult care, but they are not tied to any specific employer.

Once the caregiver has achieved two years of full-time work as a caregiver in Canada, they provide IRCC with proof of work experience and the caregiver’s Permanent Residence status is finalized.

Major differences between the old and new programs:

The new caregiver program aims to address the most significant criticisms of the old programs, namely that caregivers could not change employers easily and thus were at greater risk of abuse; and that it took years for caregivers to be reunited with their families in Canada.

Under this new program, caregivers can change employers without needing to get a new work permit because the work permit is issued without any specific employer mentioned, the only restriction being the type of work that the caregiver can perform. As well, spouses and children can apply to accompany the caregiver prior to the Permanent Residence application being finalized.

Although those changes benefit the caregiver, the new program itself is going to be more difficult and significantly more expensive for the caregiver to apply to. The eligibility criteria for the program has increased with higher language and education requirements than in the past, which will exclude some applicants from the outset. As well, the cost to apply to the program while the caregiver is overseas will increase substantially. Previously, caregivers only had to submit a work permit application and take a medical for themselves before being able to start work in Canada. With the new program, the caregivers need to make an application for both permanent residence and a work permit. They need to spend funds on formal language tests and educational assessments, as well as medicals and police clearances for every member of their immediate families. These are significant expenses to incur while still overseas, without any promise of approval. Further, because processing time is expected to take approximately 1 year, it is reasonable to think that some offers of employment may be rescinded during the processing time, with the caregiver then facing a refusal of their application.

Once in Canada under the new program, the caregiver does not have to live with their employer. Obviously, the cost for a caregiver to rent and furnish their own accommodation will be higher than living in a furnished room at their employer’s residence, but they will also have to take into account the cost of utilities and transportation to and from work. If the caregiver’s family is planning to also travel to Canada, the cost of overseas travel plus setting up a household in Canada is multiplied by the size of the family.

In the end, the new program does indeed address the concerns created by the previous versions of the caregiver programs in Canada. Caregivers who can afford to participate in this new program will benefit from the significant changes that have been designed into the program. However, the upfront costs to participate in the program will end up excluding a significant number of overseas caregivers who previously would have been able to establish themselves in Canada. In the process of addressing ongoing concerns, IRCC has created significant barriers to participation in the program itself.

Manuleaf Immigration has successfully represented many applicants in the caregiver program. We would be pleased to assist you with understanding your best options to either hire a caregiver to assist your family, or to work in Canada as a caregiver.

How to Immigrate to Canada from India

This article describes in detail how to Immigrate to Canada from India with or without a Job offer. There are thousands of Indians just like you emigrating to Canada next year. Find out how to join them. Canada is open to Immigration from India. Canada Wants You!

How to Immigrate to Canada from India

There are many reasons why people want to Immigrate to Canada from India, such as creating a better future for their families, a good work-life balance, furthering their studies or maybe just to be in a larger economy more connected to the powerhouse of the United States with the career opportunities that Canada brings.

Many Indian Citizens immigrate to Canada as the first stage in their eventual immigration to the USA because with a Canadian Passport, new immigrant Canadian Citizens are allowed to choose whether to remain in Canada or to Live and Work in the United States.

Here at Manuleaf Immigration we’ve assisted many thousands of people move to Canada from India, from all walks of life and both expats as well as Indian Citizens. Our clients include families, individuals and Indian Businesses.

When most people immigrate to Canada from India they have deep family or personal reasons for moving. For some, it’s a lifelong dream, for others, it’s about space and quality of life. Canadian Immigration is currently going through a once in a generation opportunity, with the Canadian Government announcing a critical need for up to 1 million highly skilled migrants over the next two years.

After this 1 million migrant quota has been reached the Canadian Immigration program could close entirely for many years. Once Canada is full, Immigration opportunities will cease for Indian Citizens.

The varied reasons for Immigrating to Canada from India include clean living, combined with unparalleled nature wilderness and winter sports opportunities. For some skilled immigrants to Canada moving from India its to reunite with family and for others it’s a return to the place they built up great memories as a student. Others move to Canada from India to start a new business or to invest in the country’s many opportunities.

Is it easy to immigrate to Canada from India?

The great thing about Canadian Immigration and those looking to immigrate to Canada from India is that Canada makes very little distinction between nationalities.

This means when it comes to immigrating to Canada from India both expats in India and Indian Citizens are treated in a similar manner.

Whilst it is certainly not easy for an Indian Citizen to Immigrate to Canada, it’s no more ‘difficult’ than if you were migrating to Canada from India or the USA.

How to immigrate out of India to Canada

Most clients thinking of immigrating from India to Canada have a more Permanent move in mind, with a Canadian Permanent Residency Visa their aim. A Canadian Permanent Residency Visa allows Indian holders of such (and their immediate families) to:

Live and work in Canada

Enter and leave the Country as they so choose without the need for further visas

Access medical care

Access the Canadian Education system for their Children

Own Property in Canada

Best of all, holders Canadian permanent residency visas migrating to Canada from India can convert their Permanent Residency visas to full Canadian Citizenship, which is great for expats and of course India has no objection to Dual Citizenship.

Canada Immigration Permanent Residency for Indian Citizens can be thought of as ‘tentative Citizenship” because there are very few differences between permanent residency and citizenship in Canada. The major differences are that a Permanent Resident cannot vote, and that permanent residents may still be deported if they commit a serious crime.

How long does Canada Immigration Permanent Residency last?

Once you and your family have been awarded Permanent Residency you will be able to hold this on an indefinite basis, as long as you accumulate at least 2 years of residency in every 5 years period. This does not need to be consecutive, and is a cumulative figure.

Canada Wants Immigrants from India

Canada has launched one of the worlds most ambitious skilled migration programs of the modern era with generous permanent residency programs to match it’s goals of meeting it’s targets of over a million skilled migrants across diverse worker shortage gaps in their labor force.

There are hundreds of occupations in demand in Canada across all skill levels. So many skilled workers, across so many careers, trades and professions, are needed in Canada that you may find yourself, or your immediate family member’s job on the list. And remember, just one qualifying family member is required to lodge a successful Canadian Immigration application (Permanent Residency Visa) for you and your family.

Once you’ve identified an Occupation in Demand, then next up we need to be able to identify your points on the Canadian Immigration Points score matrix for your Express Entry application, as the Canadian Government will offer invitations for visas to the higher points scoring candidates from the pool in the various sectors that Canada need under their immigration program. There are points awarded for many areas, such as age, English language, work experience, job offers, family in Canada French language skills and more. It is a somewhat complex points scoring system and we suggest going through the process in more detail with one of our experts.

In order to immigrate to Canada from India, we’ll definitely need to work out your points though we will always work closely with you to maximize (and build on) your Canadian Immigration Points Score.

What’s the next step to migrate to Canada from India?
The next step is to submit your express entry application to the Canadian Government.

Express Entry is not a ‘visa’ in its own right, it simply allows successful candidates to be filtered out to receive an Invitation to Apply for a Federal Skilled Trades Visa, a Federal Skilled Worker Visa or a Provincial Nomination Visa.

An Invitation to Apply (ITA) can be best described as approval in principle of your visa, allowing you to migrate to Canada from India.

Final Visa Application to Immigrate to Canada from India

With an ITA in hand, it’s time to complete the final complicated stages of the Canada Visa process and to complete health checks and medicals.

Once your Canada visa is granted you’re all set to make the move to Canada from India. You don’t need to move immediately (though most do) and you have 12 months to activate your Canadian Permanent Residency Visas once they are granted.

How long does it take to Immigrate to Canada from India?

On average do allow a year for the process from start to finish. Sometimes it happens sooner, sometimes later though one year is a good benchmark to keep in mind.

How much money do I need in the bank for Canada Immigration from India?

In addition to having an Occupation in demand, Canada Immigration Federal Skilled Worker applicants from India will be required to demonstrate they have sufficient financial resources to support themselves and their family for 6 months after arrival in Country. If you have a formal job offer, this requirement does not apply.
Canada offers you and your family a safe and stable life, in a country with the third best quality of life in the world. Have you, yourself, ever considered living in Canada? Canada has a strong and growing economy, with the 10th highest GDP in the world, at about $50,000 per person. And their unemployment rate is at 5,7% – placing Canada in the top-performing bracket when it comes to its employment rates. Canada’s banking system is the foundation of its strong and secure economy, and has been voted as the most stable economy on the planet by the World Economic Forum for seven consecutive years. It is this financial security that allows Canada to offer a good quality of life for the vast majority of its residents.

In terms of safety – the OECD Better Life Index awarded Canada an impressive 9.7 out of 10 for safety and security. Gun ownership in Canada is far lower than it is in the U.S., partly because Canadians feel safer. The air quality in Canada is among the world’s best, and the country ranks 9th out of the 33 cleanest countries in the planet for overall air quality, according to a recent Fraser Institute study. People in Canada are generally very environmentally conscious, and the country is kept clean.

Below is a list of just a few of the reasons that Canada is amongst the best in the world:

Canadians only work 1,702 hours per year – below the OECD average.

Everyone has access to sufficient healthcare.

Public services, such as water and electricity, are almost never interrupted.

There is great customer service, as customers are treated politely and efficiently – the Canadian way!

Education is valued, and the Canadian government spend more per capita on education than any other country in the world.

All public transport services run on time, and transport is clean.

The Canadian police have an exceptional reputation – known for being extremely helpful and excellent at their jobs.

Fast and cheap internet is available wherever you go.

Everyone is welcome – 41 of Canada’s 338 members of parliament were born overseas, and tolerance and multiculturalism are, therefore, ensured, promoted and protected.

It has a tolerant and open-minded society. Canada has been a pioneer of civil rights, and was the first country outside of Europe to legalize same-sex marriage.

It is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with Toronto recently being voted as the fourth most attractive city in the world.

WHY TO IMMIGRATE TO CANADA ?

Successful Migration with full family.

Free education and medicals.

Migration possible for skilled workers as well as investors.

Many opportunities in the Information Technology sector for software professionals.

Eligibility for Canadian Citizenship within three years of arrival in Canada with permanent residence status.
